N1A9R9S4 Although initially believing the band's sophomore effort, Infrared Horizon, to be the superior LP... now I'm not so sure. Absorbing Black Ignition has gotten a lot of love (rightfully so) but the last three tracks here are absolutely stunning. Cosmic horror and despair of the most visceral kind. Favorite track: Moon Funeral.

Lovdahl, Ian of all the technical brutal death metal albums out there, LC deserves to be front and center in your search history. you really have to listen to this, honestly and over again Favorite track: Brain Transplant.

NY based death metal band ARTIFICIAL BRAIN was conceived in 2011 by REVOCATION guitarist Dan Gargiulo and ex-Biolich vocalist Will Smith (Biolich, coincidentally being the former band where several members would end up forming CASTEVET upon Biolich’s break-up). After conceiving a demo and a two-song EP, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN have unleashed their devastating debut album “Labyrinth Constellation”, and album which shall be a platform for such a band to be recognized amongst the elite amongst one faction of the U.S. death metal scene.

Like past bands such as Nocturnus, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN bring a sci-fi element into their brand of twisted guttural death metal. More or less thematically and aesthetically (as witnessed on their stunning album cover painted by Paolo “Madman” Girardi), the sci-fi themes that run rampant throughout ARTIFICIAL BRAIN’s music complement the complex brutality that ARTIFICIAL BRAIN offer with their brand of cosmic dissonant dark death metal.

Overall, “Labyrinth Constellation” (recorded, mixed, and mastered by Colin Marston of Krallice, Gorguts, Dysrhythmia etc. in his Thousand Caves) will serve its purpose with its own unique take on the death metal genre and an album that will fit accordingly alongside the Profound Lore’s twisted death metal contingent with such bands as PORTAL, MITOCHONDRION, GRAVE MIASMA, ABYSSAL etc.
