It is no secret that reviews in the 'extreme metal' world are almost invariably a mere enumeration of motif-epithets -- dark! frightening! ponnnnderous! -- and I confidently presume that this album will not escape this fate -- but if there were one point to stress, it would be that while many 'extreme' bands attempt to 'attack' with their 'brutality' -- indeed! to smash a face with a hammer! -- (and let's disregard the perennial inundation of poor attempts to do so) this, perhaps paradoxically, is a very welcoming album -- yes! for it is already there! and it will sing without you! but it opens up and tacitly invites you to enter; and if you 'dare' to do so, it shall with great warmth wrap you up inside -- for this is a sound; no mere 'punishing assault.'
It is like wrapping up in a comfy blanket and dropping out of life, with no need for that bong.
